Rider Biomechanics & Lateral Work – level 1 –  Are you blocking you horse from moving sideways?

Do you know how to be balanced in lateral movements?  Level one will unpick the mystery of correct lateral movements, and how to help the horse achieve this with correct rider biomechanics. We will also include some operative conditioning for the horses, to enable them to understand what we are asking in terms of sideways movements. Level one is slower work,  the foundation cannot be achieved at speed, so do not expect to be moving fast . This level is about understanding, effectiveness, and precision. This one-day course will suit those at the beginning their lateral work journey, it will also be valuable for those who are experienced to support checking- in with their Rider biomechanics and refreshing that knowledge.

Adult Improvers Course – riders will take advantage of the Racewood Eventing Simulator to gain a detailed understanding of their current levels of balance and core strenght. Riders will then move on to meet and prepare their horses for a group flat session (focusing on using the simulator data for improvement). After a break for lunch, riders will groom and prepare their horses for a short poles session, ending with a mini wander down to our cross country water to cool off. There are only 5 spaces, all hire equipment is included within the price of the course.

Improve Dressage Test Scores – riders will start their day with a classroom discussion over a coffee with their coach to identify areas to work on within their test riding. Each rider will choose a test of the level they feel best suits their partnership. Riders will ride through their tests with support, working to make better use of the arena, and prepare for each next movement ahead. After a lunch break riders will meet back in the classroom to analyse their test riding, with further feedback to improve. Riders will then prepare their horses and ride the same tests for a second time, with tests marked as a competition (and rosettes!).

Building Rider Confidence  – The course starts with a classroom session and a coffee – looking at our approach to fear and analysing what it is that holds us back. Riders will move on to looking at their balance and position on our simulator, followed by an arena-based riding session: working to tackle the barriers identified, and how this impacts rider position. After lunch (riders will need to bring a packed lunch), riders will ride their horses again, with further support from their coach to read the horse, employ coping mechanisms and strategies to support riding with your mind – instead of riding with your fear.
The day will finish on another classroom session with a coffee – using the time to reflect on what went well, how to carry forward strategies that worked, and goal setting.

You may also wish to look at our riding simulator courses  – which are a mix of school horse sessions and simulator sessions

The New Starter Pack course – does not involve the simulator and has more hands on practical care as well as riding

Our Shire Horse Experience with King Arthur (one of the UK’s biggest biggest Shire horses), you can also enquire about a Rare Breeds Experience – which involves our purebred Clydesdale as well as King Arthur.
