Aims of the Course
This qualification offers an engaging programme to support learners who want a career within the equine sector. The qualification gives learners specialist knowledge and technical skills, enabling entry to an Apprenticeship or other employment. When studied alongside other level 3 qualifications it supports progression to related higher education courses.
Applicants will be 16-19 years of age and will most likely succeed if they have:
5 GCSE’s at good grades – and/or
BTEC qualifications at level 2, achievements in English and Maths through GCSE or Functional Skills, relevant work experience
This is a new level 3 course which carries up to 56 UCAS points and it is equivalent to one A Level.
The qualification is focussed on supporting provision to employment. You will be signposted routes to apprenticeships in the equine sector or direct entry to roles such as a trainee groom or stable yard assistant.
When taken alongside othe Level 3 qualifications, it supports progression to a range of higher education courses in equine management.
Duration – 2 years (1 day per week + 75 hours work experience) 360 guided learning hours with a total qualification time of 560 hours (estimated).
