Hoof Club

The Hoof Club offers a unique learning experience for children and young adults from 4 years old to adults riding with us and wanting to learn more about horses and ponies.

Why do we have Hoof Clubs? ......

Many people learning to ride often have an end goal of owning, loaning or sharing a horse of their own one day, yet may not have the necessary skills or understanding of how to provide daily care or long-term needs.

We have recognised that a riding school should not just provide riding lessons, it is also important to educate those wanting to become owners at a later stage. We often have school ponies needing sharers or loaners in 2 or 3 of the weekdays which can act as a good building block for taking on the responsibility of your own pony, and so the Hoof Club is an excellent place to start.

Half Pint Hoof Club is aimed at the 4 to 6 year olds. This teaches horse care, structured riding elements and basic stable management. It is a basic fun program derived from the BHS Stage 1 syllabus and covered in ten 60 minute sessions.

Hoof Club is aimed at 7 to 15 year olds and provides interesting and practical progressive learning, as well as horse shows, pony games and fun days. Certificates are issued each time a member passes a new stage of a care or riding element.

Hoof Club Juniors have 20 sessions of 2 hours each, and Hoof Club Seniors have 3 hour sessions. Each starts in our Hoof Club lecture room, moves on to practical learning, and then riding.

The aim is to make essential care and knowledge of horses a fun experience. Membership for both Hoof Club  and Half Pint Hoof Club includes rosette, t-shirt and member pack. Membership lasts for the duration of the program.

Hoof Club Jumping Team is a 12 month jumping training program covering Show Jumping, Arena Eventing and Cross Country Jumping.

Hoof Club Dressage Team is a 12 month program that devlops riders from Intro to Prelim, or Prelim to Novice, Novice to Elementary. The programs are in groups depending on skill sets aimed at adults as well as some younger riders.

Adult Hoof Club is aimed at adults from 16 plus. The Adult Stable Management & Horse Welfare program is aimed at those who want to own a horse or for riders who want to know more about caring for and looking after horses. It is divided in to 9 detailed modules suitable for adults learning on the yard.

Snacks and drinks are available should members need refuelling!
